This course had two design phases. The first in 1974 by William Mitchell who designed holes 1 to 5 and 15 to 18. Holes 6 to 14 were designed byJoseph Lee with the collaboration of Rocky Rockemore, both from the USA and opened in 1989. The terrain is superb and typical of the area, sandy and littered with umbrella pine trees. In the spring, the rough is covered with a blanket of wild flowers, heather and gorse. The bunkering is incomparable, both on the fairways and surrounding the greens and gives the course an advantage over many of similar quality and design.
This course has four Par 5īs requiring power and accuracy to play them well. The Par 3īs are all influenced by the wind, with the 14 th an outstanding hole. The Par 4īs are all doglegs except the 10 th and 13 th . Special mention would have to go to holes 12 and 18, incorporating lakes, tight landing areas and trick approaches to the greens. Precision is the keyword on this course, vital to set up any chance of a low score.
